Zoho Corporation has launched Zoho Payroll in the United Kingdom, a payroll management solution built around UK compliance requirements. The launch was reported from London on Wednesday 21 October 2026, according to Financial IT.
The product handles Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and National Insurance calculations, and submits Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC. Prashant Ganti, VP of Global Product Strategy, Finance and Operations Business Unit at Zoho, said payroll is “a critical component of the employee experience, so getting it right is important.” The launch comes as UK payroll rules are shifting: from April 2027, benefits in kind must be taxed through payroll each pay period rather than reported on P11D forms.
What the product actually covers
Zoho Payroll UK automates weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay runs, generates payslips, and creates BACS salary files. It submits a Full Payment Submission (FPS) for every pay run and an Employer Payment Summary (EPS) where required. HMRC requires an FPS on or before payday, and late filing can attract monthly penalties starting at £100 for businesses with up to nine employees.
The statutory payroll elements are built in: Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Paternity Pay, Statutory Sick Pay, student loan repayments, Attachment of Earnings orders, and P45 forms. Since April 2026, Statutory Sick Pay is payable from the first day of sickness, which the product reflects.
Workplace pension support includes eligibility checks, auto-enrolment, opt-ins, opt-outs and postponement. Employee self-service covers payslips, tax summaries and pension information through web and mobile portals. The built-in AI assistant, Ask Zia, handles tasks, forecasts, trend identification and employee payroll questions.
Where the UK launch fits in Zoho’s payroll line-up
Zoho already sells payroll products in the United States, India, UAE and Saudi Arabia. The UK version appears to be the same platform with UK tax logic added, rather than a separate product. That matters for businesses already using Zoho Books, Zoho People or Zoho Expense, because payroll data can flow between those systems without rekeying.
Ganti framed this as a privacy and compliance argument: “Payroll doesn’t happen in isolation, and because it shares sensitive employee data with other systems, any gap is a compliance risk and a privacy risk.” The pitch is that a single vendor reduces those gaps.
What the launch announcement does not state is UK pricing in GBP, whether the product appears on any HMRC-recognised payroll software list, or whether any named UK customers are already using it. A 2026 review of Zoho Payroll on hr.software lists pricing for the US, India, UAE and Saudi Arabia but no UK pricing section, which suggests the UK commercial terms were not public at the time that review was written. Buyers should confirm current UK pricing directly with Zoho before comparing against incumbents.

How it compares to established UK payroll tools
UK payroll buyers will naturally weigh Zoho Payroll against Xero Payroll, QuickBooks Payroll, Sage 50 Payroll, BrightPay and PayFit. The differentiators Zoho is pushing are built-in AI, the wider Zoho suite, and a single system for payroll, HR, expenses and accounting. The incumbents counter with years of HMRC filing history, established accountant networks and UK-specific support teams.
The Finity study cited in the launch announcement found 89% of payroll professionals had run into payment errors in the past year, and 38% said problems arise every month. That is the problem Zoho is positioning itself against: payroll errors that stem from disconnected systems and manual rekeying.
What the announcement does not clarify is whether Zoho Payroll UK handles Construction Industry Scheme deductions, apprenticeship levy calculations, employment allowance, or off-payroll working rules. Those are common requirements for UK employers in construction, larger payrolls and businesses engaging contractors. Nor does it state whether the product supports multiple PAYE schemes for businesses running more than one legal entity.
Practical steps for UK buyers evaluating the launch
The first step is to confirm the UK pricing and whether a free trial is available. The second is to check whether Zoho Payroll UK can import opening balances mid-tax-year, including tax code carryover and P45 handling for employees moving from another payroll system. A mid-year migration is more complex than starting at the tax year boundary on 6 April.
The third step is to verify HMRC connectivity. The product submits RTI directly, but buyers should test how it handles HMRC tax code notices, student loan plan changes and late filing corrections. The fourth is to map the pension workflow: does it integrate with the employer’s existing pension provider, or does it require a specific provider?
Finally, UK employers should check the year-end forms. The announcement mentions P45 forms but does not state whether the product generates P60s, P11Ds or handles the April 2027 shift of benefits in kind into payroll. Given that change is now less than six months away, any payroll purchase decision should account for it explicitly.
