Port Inc. launches AI Career Agent to automate recruitment interviews

Port Inc. launched its AI Career Agent in April 2026 to support career advisor tasks for job seekers, according to a report by HRMS News. The AI initially handles a portion of the interview process before handing it over to a dedicated career advisor.

The company announced the launch on April 2, 2026. The AI Career Agent will gradually be introduced into processes previously handled by career advisors, such as interviewing job seekers, recommending job openings, supporting applications, and assisting with career placement selection.

How the AI Career Agent works

In the first phase, the AI handles part of the interview activity with job seekers before connecting them to a dedicated career advisor. The design does not completely replace career advisors from the start, but divides roles between AI and humans. The scope of AI support will be expanded in stages moving forward.

Port stated that by utilizing AI, it can increase touchpoints with job seekers that current staffing levels cannot accommodate, while also enabling 24/7 support. The plan is to improve career advisor productivity and business profit margins while increasing the number of job seekers served and the number of placements.

Background and business context

The backdrop for this is the expansion of the recruitment business. Port operates platforms such as Shukatsu Kaigi, Career Park!, and Minshu, with approximately 630,000 unique members among the 2025 graduating class. The company reports that the number of recruitment placements has been growing at a rate of around 50% each term. In November 2025, it made HRteam a consolidated subsidiary.

Port does not plan to stop recruiting human staff. Of the 243 new graduates joining in April 2026, just under half are scheduled to be assigned to placement support roles after training. The strategy is to expand placements through a dual engine of increased headcount plus AI.

What this means for recruiting teams

For recruitment agencies, the important factor is not complete automation by AI, but rather the operational design of which processes to hand over to AI and where humans should intervene. Port has adopted a method of first automating part of the interview process and then connecting to a dedicated career advisor.

If this model spreads, changes will also be required for applicant tracking systems and customer relationship management systems. Beyond being traditional systems for storing candidate information, their role as data foundations for AI to acquire conversation history and preferences, and then hand them over to humans, will become critical. In the job advertising market, competition may shift toward a design that integrates everything from attraction to AI interview to job proposal to career advisor connection.

Port has not yet released specific performance figures regarding how far AI support can be expanded or how job seeker satisfaction and placement rates will change.

AI as an operational agent

What is noteworthy about this announcement is that generative AI is not being used merely as a career advisor efficiency tool, but has been integrated into actual operations as an agent that directly handles job seeker interactions. As of March 2025, Port had already announced its policy to deploy sales AI agents for placement support tasks. With risk management AI expected to reduce work by approximately 60,000 hours annually, this AI Career Agent is positioned as a move to expand that AI utilization into the front-end operations of recruitment.
